Chapter 4
1 After these things I saw, and behold, a door opened in heaven, and the first voice which I heard, like a trumpet speaking with me, said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things." 2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne stood in heaven, and one was sitting on the throne, 3 And the one sitting was similar in appearance to a jasper stone and sardius, and there was a rainbow around the throne similar in appearance to an emerald. 4 And around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and on their heads golden crowns. 5 And from the throne come lightnings and voices and thunders. And seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God, 6 and before the throne as a glassy sea like crystal. And in the middle of the throne and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes before and behind. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature was like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8 And the four living creatures, each of them having six wings apiece, full of eyes around and inside; and they do not rest day and night, saying, "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, the one who was and the one who is and the one who is coming." 9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanksgiving to the one sitting on the throne, to the one living into the ages of the ages. 10 The twenty-four elders will fall before the one sitting on the throne, and they will worship the one who lives forever and ever, and they will cast their crowns before the throne, saying: 11 You are worthy, our Lord and our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.
